Our Farm
Founded in 2017, Kupu Place began modestly in Nu’uanu Valley on Oahu, founded by Mr. Steven Yee and Dr. Anthony Mau. Driven by a shared vision to transform urban spaces for food production, they started cultivating aquaponic lettuce in their grandmother’s backyard. Leveraging Hawaii’s abundant natural sunlight, they expanded into specialty greens, refining their sustainable growing techniques like zero-waste aquaponics.
Overcoming numerous challenges to scale production, Kupu Place built strong connections within the agriculture and aquaculture communities. Their continuous learning journey was enriched by mentorship from GoFarm Hawaii and education at the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, which played a pivotal role in their success.
Committed to food and cultural sustainability, Kupu Place is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of young farmers who share a deep aloha ‘aina, honoring the land that sustains us all.
